The captain and a crew member of one of the migrant boats that capsized in the Mediterranean over the weekend has since been arrested on suspicion of multiple homicide by the Italian police.
Italian prosecutors have accused Captain Mohammed Ali of ramming his overcrowded vessel into the rescue ship, causing it to sink hence, the subsequent loss of lives.
EU leaders are meeting at an emergency migrant crisis summit in Brussels tomorrow, where talks will be towards reaching a consensus on how best to tackle the current immigration crisis.
Reaching a consensus at the meeting is not expected to be as straight forward as many would expect because there is a reluctance to resume the full search and rescue operation which was scrapped unanimously by Europe because many felt it emboldened the traffickers.
There is on the other hand the moral need to save lives, but what to do with the rescued after the rescue operation as well as the need to go after the traffickers will all form part of the agenda.
