A State of emergency has been declared in Baltimore, in Maryland one of the biggest States in the USA and a few hours drive away from the Capital, due to violent protests which took place over night, after the funeral of a black 25-year old man who died in Police custody.
Gov. Larry Hogan was forced to declare a state of emergency late Monday after local residents expressed anger over the death of Freddie Gary in police custody by destroying their own neighbourhood and wounding 15 police officers in a violent protest.
The Mayor of Baltimore is instituting a 10 p.m. to 5 a.m curfew across the city of Baltimore, which could also see the deployment of around 5,000 troops according to they city's Police Commissioner, Anthony Batts.
