Man barricade's neighbour in and starts a fire




What could have prompted  a man to barricade his neighbour and her toddler in, and  then start a fire.
 
I mean what on earth was his thinking?
 
55-year old John Robertson from Dundee in Scotland took cardboard boxes and placed them on the communal landing of the property he shares with other neighbours and set them ablaze with a lighter.
 
His actions  left a woman and her three-year-old child trapped in their home until the fire service  arrived to put the fire out.
 
It still unclear what motivated his actions, however he has pleaded guilty to a charge of behaving in a threatening and abusive manner. 
 
Sentencing has been deferred for background reports.
