14-year old girl dies in India after being sexually harassed and thrown off a speeding bus

A 14-year old girl has died after being thrown off a moving bus in India, while her mum is in a critical condition.
 
Shinder and Arshdeep Kaur were travelling by bus in northern India when almost half a dozen men began harassing them in the bus. 38-year old Mrs Kaur tried to fight off the attackers, alerting the bus conductor who to her dismay joined in the molestation.
 
She tried to alert the bus driver so she could get off the bus but instead he accelerated the speed of the bus and both mother and child were later thrown off the bus while it was still in full motion.
 
Just what exactly motivates these men?
 
It can be recalled that in 2012, a physiotherapy inter, Jyoti Singh Pandey was gang raped in the moving bus she was travelling in. Pandey died some days later after the incident.
