Iris Apfel is not your ordinary-93 year old, but rather a 93-year old cover girl.
Born to Jewish parents in Queens New York, Iris is probably the oldest on the new York fashion scene and she isn't done just yet as her presence is still very much active.
In 2013, she was listed by the Guardian as one of the fifty best dressed women over 50s.
She is the subject of a recent documentary "Iris" by director Albert Maysles which premiered at the New York film festival October 2014
She has been hailed by designers for her eccentric style of dressing.
Iris consults and lectures in style.
In 2012 At the ripe age of 90 she was a visiting professor at the University of Texas where she showed no signs of slowing down.
She and husband Carl Apfel launched a textile firm "Old World Weavers" in 1950 and ran it until they both retired in 1992.
In an interview with The New York Times Magazine she was asked if she thought attitude towards age has changed, to which she replied, that she thought designers were completely ignoring the over 65s and this is the group with the time and expendable income but unfortunately can't find anything to buy.
