Funeral held for 24 Migrants in Malta

The Bishop and Imam praying for the souls of the departed respectively

An Inter-faith funeral which included both Christian and Muslim prayers has been held in Malta for the only 24 migrants whose bodies were recovered, after the worst ever migrants boat disaster in history happened over the week-end.

Hundreds drowned in the Mediterranean after boats ferrying thousands of migrants trying to cross from Libya into Europe capsized.

The funeral service was conducted by the Bishop of Gozo, Mario Grech, and local imam Mohammed El Sadi.



In attendance were the president and prime minister of Malta, the EU's migration commissioner as well as interior minister of Italy.
