I remember a story my dad told me a long time ago while I was still a little girl.
Once upon a time all the animals in the animal kingdom decided to have a party where it was decided they each have one walnut for refreshment. Lion being the king began distributing walnuts to all the guests and when he got to tortoise, Mr smart tortoise drew lion's attention to how he was much smaller than most of the animals and there was no way he could finish a whole walnut and suggested that lion as the king have his walnut while all the others give him just about a quarter of theirs. This suggestion pleased lion as well as the others who agreed it was not a bad idea after all they still get to keep three quarters of their walnuts.
It was after they saw tortoise with his basket full of pieces of walnut as they made their way back home that they realized how they have all been outsmarted by tortoise.
Each time I recall this story it gets me thinking, achieving success or getting what you want is not totally dependent on how tall, short, fat, slim, ugly, beautiful, fast or slow you are although you can leverage on some good qualities, a lot could depend on how smart you are in negotiating with what you have got because life is give and take.
