The smartphone maker based in Waterloo, Ontario Canada issued a statement over the weekend regarding it's plans to cut its workforce because of changes in its operations which is necessary to make the company profitable again.
The Company which began to turn in small profits last year is still faced with a declining overall revenue.
Although the smartphone maker wouldn't specify how many are expected to be affected, it did mention that the cuts will affect the people who make the hardware, software, and applications for its phones such as blackberry bold, Classic and Passport
At the peek of the company's success it had an estimated 20,000 international employees which over the years have reduced to 7,000 and about half of that population work in Canada.
