A rise in the sexually transmitted disease Chlamydia in school children between ages 12 and 15 has made it necessary to have Health Respect Drop-in Centres in all of Edinburgh's secondary schools which include three Catholic schools according to health officials.
In these centres children as young as 13 can drop in and be handed free condoms and contraceptive implants.
Officials are yet to make clear the kind of advice that will be given these kids especially the younger ones and so it seems many church leaders and parents who have spoken out are not particularly pleased with the decision as they fear they will be left in the dark regarding the choices their kids are making.
