A court in California has ruled that concert promoter AEG is by no means responsible for the death of pop legend Michael Jackson. It can be recalled that Michael died after being administered a powerful dose of anaesthetics Propofol due to his inability to sleep.
Katherine Jackson, mum to the late pop star sued the concert promoters for negligence because it is believed they hired Dr Conrad Murray who had administered the drug, although Dr Murray was charged and sentenced to four years in prison for involuntary man slaughter, Michael's mum believed the concert promoters ought to be held liable for hiring and not monitoring the doctor who caused her son's death.
The concert promoters were sued for up to $1.6 billion for the damages and loss of income their negligence caused.
The court ruled in favour of AEG because although they had hired the doctor they were not directly responsible for how he saw fit to treat the late singer for insomnia because the doctor was fit for purpose at the time he was hired.
