British Airways the official airline partner of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic games continue to dominate for the second year running as it is voted both the best consumer and business brand in the UK by a panel of marketing experts and 2,000 business professional.
Well I guess most people in the UK identify with the company which was birthed in 1974 from the merger of four existing companies, the British Overseas Airways Cooperation, British European Airways, Cambrian Airways and Northeast Airlines perhaps because it is the official flag carrier of the united kingdom and also the biggest in terms of fleet size and so its a thing of national pride.
Not that I want to rain on any one's parade as I can't say exactly what the yardstick for measurement was, all I can say from a personal point of view is that I don't think British Airways customer service is top notch especially outside the UK. Some of their ticketing staffs as well as some of the Air-stewards are politely rude.
I had a personal experience sometime in 2009, I was travelling in the economy class with my son who was 3 at the time and when the meal was served my son threw the cutlery to the floor, I recall asking the air hostess for another spoon and her reply to me was that there wasn't a spare spoon, the gentle man sitting beside me had to intervene because as he later said he thought the air hostess was simply being inconsiderate.
For me that is not good customer service because even if truly there wasn't a spare spoon( which turned out to be a lie because she later went to the back to get another spoon) she could have at least offered to wash the spoon. Anyway sentiments aside Kudos to them, as well as Rolex, and The BBC for coming second and third respectively.
