Racheal Dolezal says she is black but her parents say its a lie- but what does it matter

Rachel Dolezal is the 37-year old leader of the Spokane chapter of the NAACP which is a civil rights organization that fights for the rights of ethnic minorities in the United states.

For a long time she has identified herself as being black but now her parents have come out to say she has been deliberately misleading people about her race and have provided pictures to proof she is white and was born a blonde blue-eyed child.

Dolezal who teaches African studies to college students and also on the board of the police oversight commission was asked by sky news if she considers herself an African American, a question she responded to by saying she hated the term African American and preferred Black instead.

NAACP have issued a statement supporting Dolezal who they say has been a long time figure in fighting for human rights in the Spokane community. According to their spokesperson ones ethnicity is not a criteria for the organisation's leadership position.

Meanwhile an inquiry has been opened and there are investigations to determine if by identifying herself as a multi racial woman, Dolezal violated any of the policies relating to volunteer boards and commissions.

Well people should have  the right to choose what race they want to identify with, just as people have the right to choose their religion, sexual orientation, beliefs, etc., if she sees herself as a black person and want others to see her as one, then let her be. By the way why are her parents just coming out after all these years, is this not some spiteful attempt to tarnish her image.
