A swarm of Africanised bees not thought to be aggressive attacked 65 year old Dee Daugherty as he mowed his neighbour's vacant lot to repay a favour.
Mr Daugherty was attacked when he bumped a small shed in which the bees had their hive, thousands of bees flew out when part of the hive fell and swarmed him resulting in extreme swelling in his face and neck.
Mr Daugherty managed to get off from the attack to his house where his wife called for help, he however died in the ambulance on his way to the hospital.
The beekeeper has moved the hive to another location and the bees will be tested.
