Renaud protesting outside son's school |
Annette Renaud is the PTA president at her son's high School for Journalism, she can't understand why her son who had grades as high as 95 on his class work couldn't compete with students from other schools.
Her son failed the Regent exams which is a standardized exam in the US on core high school subjects, since he failed in the same subjects he got extremely high grades in from his school she decided to take matters into her own hands by protesting with a placard outside her son's high school.
According to her this is a joke and believes her son isn't been educated because conditions in the school are so bad to the extent teacher behave in irresponsible manner.
She cited a case of a petition against the Earth science teacher signed by 24 students because the teacher was busy selling jewelleries for personal profit instead of holding lessons and conducting the state required 1,200 minutes of hands on lab, another frying doughnuts, and leaving to do his laundry and walk his dog during school hours.
There is also a case of a teacher who specializes in social studies teaching maths.
Well, Renaud's protest seems to have paid off as the department of education have launched an investigation into teachers activities during school hours and the principal of the school has offered to let students retake the class they fail at the Regent exams.
