A 23 year old British woman on holiday in Malaysia is facing the possibility of a three month jail term if found guilty of " committing obscene acts in a public place".
Eleanor Hawkins from Derby in the UK amongst 9 others have been blamed by locals for the 5.9 magnitude earthquake in Malaysia on May 30, they were accused of angering mountain gods after stripping off on the beautiful mount Kinabalu resulting in the earthquake which claimed 16 lives.
The group got into trouble after posting pictures of themselves stripping on the sacred Mountain on Facebook. This sparked a police investigation leading to a series of arrests.
Hawkins was arrested as she tried to board a plane to Kuala Lumpur.
The group are going through the Malaysian court system and the Malaysian deputy chief minister has said the tourists deserve to be punished, according to him some places are sacred to local community and as such visitors should treat these places with respect.
